Being a nurse has always been my dream.
Of course, being a mom has always been my dream as well. I’ve been incredibly blessed to be able to stay at home and raise my 3 babies for the last 11 years…the absolute best years of my life.
This was the first year that all three of my kiddos were in school full time. It was a bigger adjustment for me than I was expecting. It was the beginning of a new chapter for our family. And definitely a new chapter as a mom. My babies are needing me a little less, and the idea of nursing school just started to feel right.
So I took the first step this summer and enrolled in A&P I, a 5 week summer course. I was SO nervous to go back to school. I was worried that I was “too old”. I’ve been at home with small kids for the last 11 years. I’ve been changing diapers, cleaning toilets, doing laundry, and reading picture books. My brain feels slow and mushy a lot of the time. Would my brain even “turn on” after all these years?
Well, I’m happy to report that it did! And I am enjoying this class so much! Going back to school as an older student is much different than the first time. I have a few days left of A&P I and I’m sitting with an A+ in both lecture and lab. #curvekiller
I have a long way to go, but I’m enjoying the journey. And I feel like I’m right where I’m supposed to be.
